Winter Music in the Round’. The stage will come to the audience in the beautiful Thornbury Theatre Velvet room on June 1st. This intimate night of music showcasing three great Melbourne bands is not to be missed. Winterlights, The April Maze and Canos.
Canos has emerged in the Australian music scene as band with a sound that can only be attributed to themselves. Comprising of eight members the bands on stage presence is to say the least 'big'. They capture an audience no matter where they play, be it in a small acoustic club or the festival stage Canos' energetic and emotional folk rock will leave you always wanting more.
Since 2010 The April Maze have been living on the road touring their original music throughout Australia and New Zealand in their 1976 kombi van. There are just two of them. She plays soulful cello standing up while effortlessly singing at the same time. He sings in harmony and switches between guitar and banjo, while stomping on the stomp box to keep the syncopated rhythms punching through.
Winterlights blend honest vocals and storytelling with acoustic and ambient guitars and the occasional banjo. Their influences include Simon and Garfunkel, Jackson Browne, Bon Iver, Bic Runga, Gillian Welch, Robert Plant & Alison Krauss and Fleetwood Mac. The trio believe that music comes from the overflow of life itself and is an innate response to the human experience.
